Language is influencing the way we think. Since Donald Trump became US president usage of words such as Covfefe, Bigly and Tremendous, have been used more commonly. 2 years ago I didn’t used web acronyms like LOL, LMAO, ASAP, AFK, BRB etc. but I picked it up eventually. Similarly slangy terms such as Trump Card, Lemon Party or Greymuzzle. Emojis are also an example. I like to use semi-official style of writing using words like probability, holistic, utterly, interesting, deduction. I speak two languages – Polish and English. Also I love anagrams. Different peoples use different languages, different structures word choices and meanings. You can only think as broadly as your lingo allows you to. Also side note: I’m associating the word knot with a dog dick and not with ropes, like most of the peoples does.
It doesn’t create reality, it informs our experience of reality.
I like to think as language as one part of the many ways to communicate. Individuals that are deaf use sign language and you also mentioned emoticons. We absorb, disseminate information through our 5 senses biologically. Also, the amount of information what we obtain and its understanding of it is how we express ourselves. I believe people take our ability to communicate (5 senses) for granted and need to do some massive self-reflection on “why”. People actually take most things for granted….
It wasn’t that long ago when we where making grunt sounds as cave men to communicate. I’m pretty grateful to be able to self-reflect and set my self straight….perceivably of course.
Dear Intellectus, thank you for your insightful contribution. Also its quite interesting you bring taking things for granted and sign language on both of which I have recently thought about.
How do you think languages came to be?
This is still relevant.
Let’s discuss again.
Interesting point!
