I have a conspiracy theory that I firmly believe in. Twitter was always a major platform used for the mobilization of Left Wing movements and protests in the US. In particular, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQIA+ movements, Pipeline Protests. Here’s my theory: Elon Musk bought the platform to silence the political opposition (The Left). He did not buy the platform for primarily business reasons. Elon Musk fired the moderation staff which made it more favorable to far right reactionaries and their content.
Is that a conspiracy theory? I think he has even basically admitted as much. I think people on “both sides” believe that was what Elon Musk was doing and did. Even if that is not popularly accepted, but I think that it is, I believe the purpose was political and to turn around a lot of the stuff that had been going on over Twitter too. So now there are two of us at least.
