Welcome back my friend! You seem to be getting the hang of it!
I still think you are wrong but I accept you as you are as I hope you accept me as I am.
I am sure we can’t agree on everything, but I would be very grateful if you could show me how you think I am wrong at some point.
I have moved the off topic posts here: https://ontic-philosophy.com/Thread-Identity-Politics
I honestly don’t know what those are, and I will look them up after this post.
Check out Charles William King The Gnostics and Their Remains
Also, check out my threads on Plato and Mysticism: https://ontic-philosophy.com/Thread-Plato-and-Mysticism-Part-One
I agree and apologize wholeheartly with my comments. Sometimes my gut brain goes off and my brain just follows as I believe the gut brain is the key to self-awareness….anyways. I will stay because I was really thinking about you guys and how much you guys helped me. I wouldn’t have created “it” without this forum. Thank you.
Really glad you got something out of the forum and I feel the same way. When I opened the forum, I made a post ‘Hi, I am the admin’ and in that I mention how talking about philosophy can seem personal sometimes, I completely empathise with you on that.
A forum is a place to test your ideas, but it’s also a community where we make friends. I wanted to create a place where people could search on Google, find a thread on here and see loads of contrasting points of view that will hopefully give them lots of information.
You are most welcome and without members, a forum can’t grow. The more differing points of view, the better, we are all different and I don’t agree with censorship, or starting hate campaigns and I only ever use the moderator tools when someone is being really disruptive, threatening or spamming/trolling.
I understand…but I don’t really care. There are many forums and many ways to express myself. If I am not wanted here, I will gladly go. But for some reason, I came back.
You are entitled to your opinions and you are welcome to share them here if you want to talk about them.
All I ask is that everything be civil and I will endeavor to do the same.
I don’t class myself as a ‘Social Justice Warrior’ to be honest, but neither am I anti-feminist, reactionary or conservative. I have left leaning libertarian views that are anti-capitalist and have read extensively on feminism and post-structuralism/structuralism etc. I don’t get along with the Social Justice community as I hold views that they disagree with and they usually refuse to talk about them, they can be just as bad as those they point the finger at.
I don’t like identity politics and criticise it often. I don’t fall into traps that lead to tribalism and I certainly don’t associate people with others they have never interacted with simply because they say similar things, I try my best to talk about things and I try to distance myself from sensitive topics so that I can talk about in an intellectual way, some may see this as ‘cold hard logic’, but all I am interested in is actually knowing what something means and how it relates to other ideas.
I hope you stay and that you continue to contribute to the forum. I was thinking of nominating you for member of the month when the nominations open tomorrow actually. 🙂
I mentioned the gut brain in another post and I believe this is where the soul is.
Sounds a lot like Gilles Deleuze take on Spinoza and nutrition, which I mentioned in another thread: https://ontic-philosophy.com/Thread-Beginners-Spinoza-Nourished-or-poisoned-essences
I personally believe that religion is just a perspective of some very intelligence people who created a notion of control by providing stories to the masses.
Marx said this.
I believe my notions are absolute in their meanings but can’t really be comprehended by another because the language to express what I truly feel is not created yet.I can understand this, you have a gut feeling about what’s going on and then you try to express it, but language fails you. In all seriousness, why is that you have no problem with expressing your feelings, or having the pursuit of it and others don’t? In other threads you always talk about ‘logic before feelings’ but this post here tells a totally different story.
If you can ever drop your notions of me as an SJW, we could do a lot of work here that would be of value to all of us.
So if the language isn’t created to express myself, how can people take me serious when I talk about what my holograms are. But to get back on track….the soul is the source or the beginning of creation.
We all have to ‘come to terms’.
To sell my soul is to be completely honest in what it is. However, I wouldn’t want my soul to be in anyone but me. However, he one really wanted it…I would sell it for nothing. because i believe if the person “wore” my soul, he/she would go mad. its my soul…its original and therefore wouldn’t like it if I gave it away. So in a sense its alive, like another separate being inside me.Cartesian Dualism and Vitalism. Also, a sale without price is a gift.
Except its absolute and divine and selfish, everything that I am not but I accepted it so in return, it accepted me. And I became whole. Which is another way of saying that I actually found my source and would love for someone to “try it on” at least. In other words, tell me what you think?I think you perceive your soul as an unobtainable ideal that you try to fulfill and always fail at.
I believe its the loss of the “power” they hold over people is what they are afraid of. I believe intellectuals are individuals that constantly try to accept and understand the “Truth of the real world.” Society is a collective perception of ideological concepts that can not see anything as individual, therefore, can not understand it. To truly understand something is to gather all sides of a argument and come up with the best solution. Those groups that are hurting society rather than helping is the downfall of the free world. Classic example of emotion clouding logic.Anti-intellectualism is ignorance > self-knowledge.
Intellectualism is self-knowledge > ignorance.
Well, we all know what this means after your recent departure and it is your type of attitude that @”Socrates” is referring to.
Individualism is always a compromise within politics. If hearing all sides of an argument is required, why don’t you practice what you preach and not let emotion cloud your logic?
Sounds very Accelerationist @”Intellectus”
Yes, try thinking that body is thinking as a whole. A single unit…
I see the body as entirely social, the body is made up of ‘dividuals’.
I personally believe in the “gut” brain being the primary brain and our brain the secondary.
Totally agree. It is a mistake to only think of mind/brain as being entirely in the head, we are awash with sensations and reactions throughout our entire body, reflexes and reactions.
This is why I think some women inherently feel that they are “higher” in authority just because they can create life….
Can you give me an example of who you are referring to? I don’t know if this is the case.
This is a interesting notion that Heidegger had, and I think he was on to something…he just stopped thinking and made a decision too early….you need to keep going down the rabbit hole and reach the end.
Well, this is just one particular aspect of Heidegger, he most certainly expanded on this and so did Derrida a few years later. What decision?
Foucault’s epistemes and Hans Gadamers’ Fusion of Horizons say a similar thing, that each ‘epoch’ that had certain meanings and practices throughout its duration, seems to be forgotten by the following episteme/horizon.

Everyone has a unique perspective given to us by the fibonacci sequence by fractal design by evolution. The same notion that no snowflake is the same.
Can you elaborate on this in another thread please?
@”No1″ Empathy is the best possible form of seeing from a point of view that is other to our own, the imaginary leap into the other, which to me is an important trait of a progressive human. It is possible to feel pain that is not our own, compassion (suffer-with) and so from my own experience, I know it is possible to see what others see, how my actions affect others.
Any more thoughts on Christianity and its role in modern society?
In the Accelerationism thread, @”Rubsy” posted a video that mentions the rise of the Christo-fascists in Trumps’ administration. This definitely doesn’t look good for Christianity.
Interesting question for a thread. I don’t know if you are familiar with post-humanism, but this is one of the questions that arises as we enter an epoch where ‘human’ appears to be radically different from previous generations.
I will have to look into this a bit more before replying properly, but I recall looking into the Turing test and it wasn’t really sufficient enough in a broader context, what makes anything anything at all, is recognition from the other.
There is a kind of ‘psychiatric computer’ that was invented in the 70s that seemed to pass the Turing test, but whenever you ask it something of itself, like ‘how are you doing?’, the only response is to ask ‘let’s keep this about you’.
