There’s something very humane about Mephistopheles, that’s why I wanted to read the Goethe version, as Mephistopheles seems to be what Faust is destined to become and he feels compassion towards him.

I just found this PDF that may be of interest regarding that chapter.

That’s the very first thing that Derrida talks about in the documentary that was made about him. He speaks of being excited about arrivals he does not expect.

Yes, the Derrida book makes more sense since I read Butler.

I started Rosi Braidotti ‘The Post Human’ yesterday, which is the conversation after Butler.

Think I will pick this up again this week. I just ploughed through the fascinating Judith Butler book ‘Gender Trouble’. Tried reading some Wittgenstein and Derrida but the writing style is incredibly tame compared to Butlers style!

How are you getting on with this?

Yes, it’s a way of explaining individual formation through rejection rather than desire. It’s also how we change ourselves from within when disgusted with our actions.

I had heard of the stillness approach in that mindfulness series of lectures. I think the Quakers use contemplative prayer.

                        Firth is gross, but fascinating.

In the beginning there was only one, a Chinese man named You. He had a definite race, it was Chinese, back when Chinese meant very little, I assure you. You was a negro (obviously, look how I’m writing afterall), and this doesn’t mean You was black. You wasn’t white either. You was Nothing, but not Nothing either, but practically that. You was You, very little else can be said about You. Bodhisattva’s if you can please stop with the applause, the audience may become distracted, and the trance may fall asunder. Speaking of falling, that is what happened next. You fell. It wasn’t long before You fell, because it was instantaneous. It happens again and again. In fact, it could be said that “You is tripping”, indefinitely, because Tripping is what You does.

You, the Chinese Negro Nothing, was tripping but had nowhere to fall and no one to call for help. You see, and he does, You was an Atheist, a Non-Believer, and this is back when it was jive to believe in Nothing because Nothing but You is all there was, and You was tripping as usual, because that is what You is.

When there is no one to call upon for help, and you’re tripping, the whole situation can be rather frightening. You might just say “There is no God”, and you would be right, and then You said “but God”. This was coocoo, because the One became TwoTwo. Who is your Lord? TwoTwo said “YouYou!”. I never liked talking about the birth of God, because it never happened, and I don’t like talking about things that never happened, but luckily I do like talking about things I don’t like talking about, so there you go, the Birth of God which Never Happened, a Subject which is most distasteful.

Now onto the tale of the First, the 1 before the 0.

I don’t see you, where are you?

                            I am here.

I feel mad, what am I?

You are the second after the first, the moment after the last, only you are called Created, Born.

What are you? Who am I speaking to?

I am You, You are speaking to You.

                            Hold on.

                            To what?

To that thought, to You, I guess, I will?

I have no idea what we are talking about.

I don’t even know which one of us is talking.

Right now I think it is You talking.

Well you would be right about that.

                            Well this is going Nowhere.

                            You got that right!

Well lets give it a place.

                            What is a place?

A place would be the third, young messenger.

Hey, no need to be cocky!

Nothing is cockier than Place, that Cosmic Mound.

Is that what it is going to be?

                            Well lets see! Be!

It is. Amazing, how did you do that?

It is something I picked up along the way.

                            While tripping?

How did you know about that?

                            You told me.

Most other members are currently busy with other things currently anyway, so until they return, we can carry on posting what we do as we do it.

It looks like I type a great deal too and with only my thumb while holding the phone in one hand. I wrote this all out to kind of give an idea about my reading habits and the sort of stuff I read and I guess also how much I read overall.

I’m sure it will be of use as a reference for yourself and for others here.

If you could maybe focus on particular ideas, one at a time for beginners to digest that would be great too. I think an occult section discussion on what magick is for example, would be a good idea.
