I think that depends on perspective, I was thinking of the King as an ideology, be it capitalism, growth, progress etc.
Be that the current ideology, but what does that protected ideology amount to at the end of the day. I see the king as being the next generation and how we attempt to bring about a good life for the ones that are to come after us.
We naturally try providing a better life for ourselves whatever way that may be, with intent of passing on our genes in a safe environment rather than a torn up civilisation.
I don’t really have any point of claim in the post I just thought it was interesting to think of society in a symbolic familiar way.
All I know is that he’s a rapper.
He is much more than that, he is someone in the limelight that shows how human we all are. A really incredible person to be at the forefront of this rap thingy.
Our existence like you said is often always validated through our ascription’s; not just our possessions but I feel all aspects of who we view ourselves as. It’s this filter of our consciousness that helps create the image we want other to view us as. This may not always be an authentic description of whom we truly are however it is the distributed identity that we choose through our actions, desires, possession choice, and ultimately social group we identify with.
A complex conundrum that we can hopefully break down as a species to be our own light rather than hidden behind strongholds that we call identity.
Who is Kendrick?
Kendrick Lamar – it was a play on one of his lines.
The download doesn’t seem to be working for me, am I alone on this?
I think politics are inescapable when talking about ‘what is truthful and beautiful’. Our conceptions of truth inform our conceptions of beauty and vice versa. For example, a flashy, glamourised, wealthy look is to me, the symbolic form of a full on immersion into capitalism and so I see that look as monstrous – but the same can be said for how they will see my look, something more earthy, plain and simple.
The question arises, how can we use aesthetics to influence politics?
Need thou use aesthetics to influence politics? To me aesthetics shouldn’t be in the same sentence as politics as is derives from what is important. Nonetheless I think beauty lies in the eye of the beholder as each person as their own interpretation of such a concept.
I just wanted to concur that when looking at someone who has material linens that are worth more than my car, I too see them as immersed in the system.
It’s odd though, some days you are fine with thought of leaving worldly bound worries – then others you are awoken during the night with the sweats of death afraid of waking at 40 unfulfilled.
I will be back tomorrow with a piece in regards to this conversation!
Habits and contradictions. I dare myself to walk naked ‘come to terms with termination’. I think every ‘intellect’ has come to the terms of death, but walking a life full of humility is an even greater task.
It’s odd though, some days you are fine with thought of leaving worldly bound worries – then others you are awoken during the night with the sweats of death afraid of waking at 40 unfulfilled. It’s fine now when I am 21 and have no real regrets, but I am not sure about that mid life crisis period – I guess I will find out.. hopefully naked haha.
As kendrick said himself, ‘age dont exist when you have a high tolerance’. > I don’t know, an extract that I thought was fitting.
@”Ontical” Nor do I. It’s just when confronted with true motivations behind your actions it gets you thinking, “am I what I believe I am”. But yes I do not think selfishness as being all bad, as self serving motivations could be more other centered than the source.
Would love to walk without possessions in this life.
Interesting. I admire his humility and is something that I try to implement into my life.
Although, not related do you think true humility is possible? Furthering that, what I mean is, do you think that we can be altruistic without any selfish motives; as he smashed his bowl to remove the barrier of privilege – although this could be very genuine and an attempt to live humbly, is something like that really possible.
What’s the long term plan for these commodity-currencies?
[hr]
The reason I ask is because it looks like a bubble is building here.
Each coin has their own philosophy. Although still currencies these ‘commodity coins’ usually have some sort of application benefit. As mentioned earlier; Ripple (XRP) wanted to use their algorithm for instant banking transfers, but have now receded on their efforts and are staying decentralised. Other coins have their purposes in coding, tech industry etc. Of course there are meme coins that essentially have no innovative purpose, but I recommend doing your own personal research.
And to answer to you, yes there is a current bubble from the hype and contentious price that BTC currently sits on.
Bitcoin themselves are decentralised processing of payments through public hash sharing. Bitcoins i would see them as being a currency themselves; considering japan has recognised it as a legal form of exchange.
Altcoins or alternative crypto currencies are more comodities rather than a currency. For a number of reasons that include not having the widespread recognitio that bitcoin (the original) has, and two because they have application within the market. Some of the good altcoins are innovating the real world much to our ignorance, simply because it isn’t implemented and is in testing and devloping stages. Such as Ripple or (XRP) with much critisism from crypto enthusiasts, are attenpting to work with the banking industry to provide instabt transactions that the coin is able to provide. Other coins like Litecoin may speed up current bitcoin transactions with new protocol technology that would act as a testing ground for the popular bitcoin.
Its a really interesting time to get on board if you are into investing as a lot of the initial market development is happening right now.

@”Ontical” I think mutuality comes before fear and ignorance when considering tribalism.
@”Socrates” Although I agree that having an identity comes with its own issues, but I am going to have to disagree with Marshal on that one. To say it is always accompanied by violence is more of a generalisation than precedent.
I too think Foucault is a great thinker on the Anarchist front, but the stepping stone to Anarchism (if ever possible) must include the general public in some form of forum – which is how I feel people whom are politically open are able to see that from Foucault’s ideals.
Have you ever read any Marshall McLuhan? I think he’s essential for discussions about technology and politics. His view is that technology leads to relief of pain, effort is diminished and so laziness and tribalism become almost inevitable.
I can understand that effort is diminished. However, I see tribalism as a good thing in order of grouping together with similar ideologies; like I said not just locally but on a global scale allowing for a more raw understanding of other peoples lives rather than what is depicted through other sources of information. This can create a better view of your own immediate environment contrasting. But of course with that, tribalism runs the risk of tunnel vision for their own motives.
I don’t know, its a hard one but nonetheless I think overall it is great for democracy.
I will be sure to read some of his work.
