All negation is determination. You name me and negate me.

Socrates and Diogenes, two Greek philosophers were all about simplicity – moreso Diogenes, who led a very ascetic life style. Asceticism is a practice whereby we deliberately abstain from things we desire and try to live with as few needs as possible, sometimes for purity, but mostly as a practice of humility.

There are three principal Reflection/Projection modes – the alternating, whose manifestations complement each other – the contrary, where they contrast each other – the dualistic R/P, whose manifestations appear separate.

I wonder if Lacans ‘The Real, Symbolic and Imaginary’ has any similarities to this? Something about it seems similar.

how is one to realize oneself through the images of others, if ones does not know one’s own?

I would argue that what we call ones own is first an embodiment from without which we ingest and transform into our own.

Yes, it is a foolish statement   is there a way to erase it?

No, it’s great that you posted something that I can relate to philosophically – there are two ways of looking at self-realisation, either we have an authentic self within us, or we are structured from the outside and strictly speaking, it’s actually both of these as Thelema is expressing a two sided coin of reality – it is one and two, otherwise known as the oneness of duality.

There are lots of similarities between what Crowley wrote and what previous and later philosophers wrote, in particular Schopenhauer, Kant and Nietzsche, who I believe influenced Crowley deeply.

In regards to Will and Love, I agree that Will is a force, Nietzsche and Schopenhauer most definitely saw Will in the same way, but I would say Love is a Law, rather than a force?

There are various strategies to eliminate homosexuality or perceived abberations in human behavior which curiously exist even within the efforts of self-proclaimed homosexuals even as a majority with efforts such as “acceptance” being a similar elimination strategy to “changing”

Can you paraphrase this, I am not sure I am following you?

Are you saying society only accepts in order to change homosexuality? I don’t think acceptance is the first strategy, toleration comes first which then leads to apathy, a disinterest.

All I know up to this point is that the death drive is the only drive for Lacan and is associated with the Real and Jouissance, but it also governs the Symbolic.

I find this theorem interesting because it unites mystical thought with psychology. Crowley has a way of explaining these subjects in a down to Earth way.

To me, it means our entire life is a work of art.

Another aspect of capitalism that bothers me, is the dependency on the service industry in wealthy areas. Now, there is nothing wrong with having baby sitters, or a nanny for unexpected long term commitments at work, or due to illness etc. What is wrong, in my opinion, is the market that has opened which takes care of children, animal pets and cleaning long term which is pre-arranged – a person looks for a nanny before they get pregnant, a person looks for a dog sitter before they get a dog!

While this provides jobs, it is a silly market. Why have a dog or child, when you need someone else to take care of them? The service industry is massively under-payed and is one of the worst areas of exploitation, the wealthy want cheap servants, but the servants can’t afford to live nearby and so they have to travel miles and miles each day for low wages and many hours, even multiple jobs.

The service industry has always been regarded as the job market for women and immigrants and is the first place to understand the wage and pay gap in a historical context and as an area of society where intersectional exploitation can be analysed in regards to Patriarchy and Capitalism.

This is a good example of where ethics and morals are overridden by the market – what kind of irresponsible practice is this?

The water creates the seal that keeps it in and somewhat well preserved? Huh.

                              That’s pretty much it!

Great thanks. Take your time, it requires a careful reading.

Some of the themes you have mentioned here are in that essay and I would be interested to hear your thoughts.
